Hi,
As any well-respected bearded man with Seb Derm knows, the search for a beard balm that won’t potentially aggravate seborrheic dermatitis is frustrating and time-consuming. Most beard balms, regardless of price or brand, contain similar ingredients. Unfortunately, these comprise of popular natural oils like argan oil, shea butter, avocado oil, coconut oil, and every other oil that feeds Malassezia. It seems all beard balm companies belong to the same club and they conspire to make bearded Seb Derm sufferers suffer ever more. But all is not lost. There are a handful of beard balms that may not aggravate Seb Derm and may even soothe it. Ironically, my pick for the best beard balm is the Just For Men The Best Beard Balm Ever. Check out this article to understand why, for the other 3 beard balms I recommend. |

Reader Questions |
Q: Can I use products that contain some ingredients that may feed Malassezia? Generally speaking, I don’t recommend products that contain ingredients that feed the yeast. Having said that, most products, especially natural ones, do contain some ingredients that are no-nos. If the culprit ingredient is way down the list, and if the product contains other ingredients that may improve Seb Derm, I think there is no harm trying a product if you really like it. At the end of the day, everyone’s skin is different and Malassezia is not the only cause of Seb Derm. Personally, many of my products contain a small amount of no-no ingredients but when my Seb Derm is controlled (with other lifestyle changes etc.), they don’t aggravate it. However, during an acute flare, I would try my best to steer clear of all products that may worsen your flare. Best not to take the risk in that situation. * Every week I answer one reader question.
