Hi,
Ever wondered why you have Seb Derm but not your sister/ brother/ friend/ colleague/ random stranger? Do you feel helpless trying to control your Seb Derm rash and don’t even know where to start? There is so much we don’t know about Seb derm. The interplay of factors leading up to it is complex. As an Seb derm sufferer, I spent the first 6 months asking why and experimenting with my lifestyle and diet choices to improve the condition. It took a lot of research, frustration and disappointment before I got to this level of understanding. Seborrheic dermatitis can be triggerred by a multitude of factors. In fact, anything and everything can trigger a Seb derm flare. However, these triggers are not the root cause of seborrheic dermatitis. At its heart, seb derm occurs in some people but not in others due to a few major factors occuring at the same time: – Malassezia yeast overgrowth – Skin microbiome imbalance – Sebaceous gland activity and lipid composition – Impaired skin integrity – Hyper-reactive immune response to Malassezia byproducts Read more about how these factors contribute to Seb derm and what to do about it in this article. |

Q: Can I use MCT oil on my face if I have rosacea? Yes you can. MCT oil probably wouldn’t help rosacea but it’s not going to inflame it. To be frank, MCT oil is not a treatment for Seb Derm either. However, if you have oily skin or want to use face oil, MCT oil is better than many other plant oils that can aggravate Seb Derm. * Every week I answer one reader question.
