Hi, Stress if probably one of the biggest triggers for seb derm. I say this from personal experience. There are plenty of ways you can use to get on top of chronic stress. Today, my focus is on the use of ashwagandha. Incorporating this herb into your daily routine may improve your stress levels and may also help control seb derm. Have you heard of ashwagandha? Ashwagandha is sometimes referred to as Indian ginseng due to its rejuvenating and invigorating properties. One of the primary benefits of ashwagandha is its ability to reduce stress and anxiety. Since stress can be a trigger for seb derm flares, managing stress levels with the help of ashwagandha might contribute to keeping your skin condition in check. Ashwagandha may also help in alleviating the inflammation associated with seb derm. Reducing inflammation can help in soothing your irritated and skin, providing some relief from the rash. Ashwagandha has also been found to improve immune function. This can help regulate your immune system’s response to Malassezia and its byproducts. Keep in mind that ashwagandha may not work for everyone. There are no studies confirming this but there have been anecdotal accounts of individuals finding that their seb derm worsened after taking ashwagandha supplements for anxiety. How long should I use antifungal cream? If you’ve had a full-blown seb derm flare, apply your antifungal cream of choice (read more here) twice a day for 2 weeks, even after your rash disappears. This is to prevent rebound Malassezia overgrowth and reduce the risk of resistance. After that, apply the cream once every 2-4 weeks as ‘prevention’ for a few months. If you have another seb derm flare, repeat the 2-week regimen again. |
